2. Select your lake

Type a lake name to filter the local list, or press Search USGS for more lakes to find waters not yet listed. Texas uses the Parks & Wildlife fishing-lake directory; other states add USGS lake names as they load. For an unlisted lake, choose “Other lake / enter a name.” Mapped lakes show a circled star on the map.

Set your conditions

Actual water conditions take priority over the calendar. Water temperature is a range, not the day's air temperature.

Lake-area weather forecast

Use the weather forecast as a starting point. The Bass Game Plan can use verified lake measurements where available; your own observations take priority.

Select a lake with a mapped location to check available National Weather Service forecasts.

Your fishing conditions

Your bait recommendations update automatically. Changing your state, lake, water temperature, clarity, weather, season, depth, cover, or technique refreshes the three bait and color picks below.

5. Your Top 3 Recommended Bass Baits

Checking current Custom Bait Builder colors for bass baits…

Recommendations use selected conditions and broad habitat patterns, not guaranteed catches or current fishing regulations. Storefront standard-color lists are based on the October 5 production checklist and still require confirmation on the product page. When the live Custom Bait Builder feed is connected, builder colors shown have been cross-checked against that bait profile and the current master modifier, with retired colors excluded. Builder profile preselection is attempted only where the live feed verifies the matching bait; confirm options in the Builder. The guide uses NWS forecasts and may use dated TWDB reservoir trends or matching USGS lake-station readings to inform recommendations without showing a separate measurements dashboard. Air temperature is not water temperature. Turbidity is not visibility in feet; trends are only calculated when historical measurements exist. Recommendations use your selected water temperature, clarity, weather, target fishing depth, cover, and technique. All results are bass soft plastics; no crappie baits are included.
